We now have four eLKs (eLending Kits) “on the road” around NSW.
There are two small kits with four eLending devices and two large kits with eight eLending devices. There is a mix of Android and Apple, tablets, smartphones and dedicated eReaders in each kit.
Following the pilot of the eLending Kit Project in Mudgee and Lithgow libraries, last year, eLending visits have been made to:
Maitland City Library
Albury City Libraries
Eurobodalla Library Service
Richmond Tweed Regional Library
Goulburn Mulwaree Library Service
Bankstown City Library and Information Service
eLK is preparing to take off to:
Wentworth Shire Library
Macquarie Regional Library
Leichhardt Library Service
The visit includes a two-hour familiarisation session, an introduction to the eLending Portal on the NSW.net website and a four week online self-paced learning program.
The library then has the kit for four weeks to play with and learn more about the devices.
Fourteen familiarisation sessions have been conducted with more than 60 library staff attending.
Feedback from library staff has been positive:
“A wonderful initiative. Staff would not have had the opportunity to learn these devices in a relaxed and non-threatening environment without this kit.”
“I do not own any of the above devices but I am now very comfortable using the devices. Thank-you for giving me the opportunity to play with such a variety of devices.”
“Seeing and playing with these devices will help a lot, particularly the dedicated eReaders, I had never used one before – thank you.”
