EBSCO Host Integrated Search Tool

In 2010, NSW.net conducted a trial of the EBSCOhost Integrated Search (EHIS) solution. The EHIS solution is essentially a federated search product. Federated search acts as an intermediary between the client and a predefined selection of digital resources. It allows a library patron and/or library staff member to utilise a single search box to interrogate multiple databases, integrated into the federated search profile.

A subsidised Consortia Opt-in Offer for the EBSCO Host Integrated Search Solution was promoted to the NSW public library network in June 2011.

The EBSCOhost Integrated Search solution is the introductry level discovery solution. EBSCOhost also offers Opac on EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service. EBSCO Host Search Box [free to NSW public libraries]

The EBSO Host Search Box provides a single search solution across all EBSCOhost platform databases. This solution is ideal for those public libraries which rely predominantly on the free NSW.net state-wide licensed suite of databases (current suite contains nine EBSCO databases). Libraries interested in this option can embed a simple search box onto their website and integrate compatible EBSCOhost databases into the search widget. Please note: it is not possible to integrate your library catalogue records and or non EBSCO database into this solution.

LibraryThing For Libraries (LTFL) has the capability of providing a catalogue with the power and fun of Web 2.0. With LTFL customers can browse, search and discover library holdings in a new powerful, fun and engaging way. Library customers get exciting features and libraries get all the credit for providing this fun, creative inclusive technology.

Catalogue Enhancement Package: Book recommendations, tag-based discovery, and links to other book

editions and translations mean more ways for your patrons to find books they’ll like.

Reviews Enhancement Package: Provide reviews for every item in your catalogue, including CDs and

DVDs. Patron reviews, LibraryThing reviews, and widgets for sharing reviews help you harness the power

Shelf Browse Enhancement Package: Shelf Browse uses your call numbers and marries them with cover

images to give your customers the feel of browsing a physical shelf. A mini shelf browser sits on your detail

pages. When your customers clicks on it, it becomes a full-screen version.
