Copyright and the digital economy Issue paper

This paper is published by the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) which has been asked by the Attorney General to inquire into and report on current and further desirable uses of copyright in the digital economy.   The ALRC is to provide a final report outlining proposals for reform by the 30th November 2013.

There is a section within the Issues Paper that specifically deals with Libraries  Archives and Digitisation.  The issue paper asks a number of questions about the current copyright framework and its impact on commercial and creative enterprises and how current exceptions and statutory licenses are working in the digital environment.  The closing date for submissions is 16 November 2012.

E-books in Libraries: a briefing document developed in preparation for a workshop on e-lending in libraries

This paper provides an exploration of the current issues associated with eLending in libraries. The paper is a work in progress and will be updated to reflect the current state of the eBook publishing ecosystem and its impact on libraries.
