In November 2012 ALIA announced a major initiative to establish a position statement for Australian libraries regarding the ebook and eLending debate . An issue paper is being prepared which will form the basis for discussions with other related peak bodies including: IFLA, NSLA, the Book Industry Collaborative Council, the Australian Book Council, the Australian Society of Authors, the Australian Publishers’ Association, and the Australian Booksellers’ Association.
ALIA also intends to facilitate an eBook and eLending think tank session on February 15th 2013, at the ALIA Information Online Conference in Brisbane. In March 2013 ALIA will host an E-books and E-lending Summit. For further details... http://www.alia.org.au/publishing/incite/2012/11/directline.pdf
