eLending Training Material from NSW Public Libraries

In November 2012, NSW.net asked for contributions from the NSW public libraries on what they were providing in terms of eBook and eReader training for clients.  An overview of the various initiatives is provided in the previous section, NSW Public Library Approaches to Providing eLending Training.

A number of the libraries which responded to the NSW.net survey also provided accompanying support material which they were happy to share with the NSW public library network.

If your library service has similar material which you would be interested in sharing with the NSW public library network please forward the documents as an email attachment to Ross Balharrie.

Travel Light This Summer with Library eBooks

A list of resources to get started with eReaders and eBooks http://libraryebooktour.wordpress.com/resources/#kobo Accessed 13 December 2012
From the site:
“For the first time this summer, ebooks will be available from 56 of the 67 public library systems throughout New Zealand. To celebrate, the Association of Public Library Managers  (APLM)  and Finding Heroes have launched a nationwide tour to raise awareness of ebooks and the ease at which you can borrow them from your local library.

The tour, “Travel Light This Summer With Library Ebooks”, coincides with the high interest in purchasing ereaders as Christmas gifts, and making your summer reading pile easier to manage while on holiday or travelling.
The tour itinerary will include visits to 6 libraries in the Wellington/Wairarapa region before Christmas with more locations being scheduled in the New Year. This is a real collaborative effort across the public library sector and beyond. We are grateful for the generosity of a number of sponsors and contributors.”

eBooks in Public Libraries – Resources for Educating Patrons about eBooks in Public Libraries

From the site:

“When citizens ask about eBooks and eReaders, I would like all librarians to have thoughtful response. This Web site strives to collect information to help librarians:
consider a number of options and decide which response is best in their situation. This is the "for librarians" section.
give patrons need help, e.g., selecting eReaders, teaching them how to use eReaders, find free eBooks, use their library's eBook collections. This is the "for patrons" section. “

Chris Rippel, Central Kansas Library System.
