State Library eresources
NSW public library card holders can access the State Library of NSW's extensive eresource collection by registering their library card to become State Library members.
The State Library of NSW purchases a variety of eresources specifically for NSW residents who are registered members. To streamline access for public library members, an initiative has been developed allowing public library members to register their library card number for immediate access to the State Library’s eresources collection. This eliminates the need for a separate State Library membership card.
These eresources complement those licensed by public library services and are provided under specific licence conditions to registered members of the State Library. It is important to note that public library staff cannot use these eresources to assist clients with reference enquiries. They are intended for private research and study by the registered individual only.
How public libraries can participate
Your library can opt in to participate at any time. There is an agreement that needs to be signed by your library manager before access can be activated. Your library will also need to supply your barcode range to the State Library. If you update your barcode sequence, please contact us so we can update our system.
Promoting State Library eresources
Public libraries can link to the landing page for the eresources site on the SLNSW website.
Suggested text to accompany the URL: As a member of [insert public library] you can register your card to become a member of the State Library of New South Wales and access a large collection of eresources covering a diverse range of subjects, including newspapers, journals, magazines and archival collections.
Please note that specific State Library of NSW eresources should not be listed or promoted on your library website unless you have your own subscription.
